Isabel Coughlan

Research Summary

I am a third year Biochemistry and Molecular Biology student assisting Amber Flores on her project on altering carotenoid profiles in lettuce via gene overexpression. Some of my roles include sowing seeds and tending to lettuce plants, DNA and RNA extraction, cDNA synthesis, and running PCRs. In the future, I aim to pursue my interests in genetics and biochemistry in graduate school and continue in research. When I am not in the lab, you can find me spending time in nature, painting, or learning a new song on one of my instruments!
