Daniel Wankmuller

Research Summary

I am a microbiology student helping Amber Flores on her project on functionally characterizing genes in lettuce, specifically those involved in amino acid transport via CRISPR/Cas9 knockouts. Some of my roles in the lab include extracting DNA, PCR, preparing samples for Sanger Sequencing, creating recombinant DNA constructs, and cloning. I am still considering my options in the future for schooling. I have an interest in studying extremophiles in graduate school or going to medical school for virology.
