Research Topic Comparative High-throughput Analysis of Resistance Gene Evolution
Research Summary I am interested in the co-evolution of pathogen effectors genes, their target host genes, and corresponding R-genes. In addition, several downstream components of the relevant signal transduction pathways will also be analyzed. By investigating the levels and patterns of diversity among different ecotypes of Arabidopsis and within cultivated and wild germplasm of lettuce and tomato, I hope to achieve a better understanding of the different evolutionary factors contributing to the maintenance and generation of preexisting and novel resistance specificities. Coupling the uncovered allelic variation with phenotypic information generated by other members of the Michelmore lab will provide a strong platform for determining the molecular basis of specificity in plant-pathogen interactions.
